Dubai Creek Harbour is considered one of the most ambitious developments in the United Arab Emirates. This “city within a city” has residential and office buildings, hotels, shops, and perfect infrastructure.
Two major developers are currently working on this project. The first is Emaar Properties, which boasts dozens of luxury residential complexes and a number of record-breaking projects, including Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the famous Dubai Mall shopping centre with its giant aquarium. The second developer is Dubai Holding, owned by the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It built Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and many other properties in the city.
What is Creek Harbour?
Creek Harbour is being built on an area of six million square metres between Dubai Downtown and Dubai International Airport. The residential complexes and the supporting infrastructure are being constructed on Dubai Creek.
The infrastructure is designed to satisfy all the needs of residents and their families. Supermarkets and cafés, modern gyms, yacht clubs and playgrounds are all available in Creek Harbour. The complex will have its own golf course, tennis courts, a landscaped park, a 300-metre long sand Creek Beach and a promenade with swimming pools and restaurants.
The philosophy behind Creek Harbour is a combination of technological progress and sustainable development. The community’s energy system uses solar panels and special water filtration systems. Almost 10% of the entire community, or 500,000 square metres, is made up of green areas.
Creek Harbour’s location is an important advantage. The neighbourhood is adjacent to the central Downtown area and the airport, both of which can be reached in 10 to 15 minutes. It is a five-minute drive to the Ras Al Khor National Wildlife Sanctuary, a unique natural area which is home to about 450 different species. Tourists flock here to see the pink flamingos (the sanctuary is home to about 500 of them). A 25-minute walk will take you to the popular Dubai Marina area.
Although the neighbourhood is promoted as a pedestrian zone due to the abundance of walking areas, there are also public transport routes in the area. The Dubai authorities plan to open three new stations on the extended Green metro line.

New Record-Breaking Tower
Dubai Creek Tower, a 928-metre high observation tower (100 metres higher than Burj Khalifa) was planned to be the centrepiece of Dubai Creek Harbour. Emaar Properties planned to beat their own record by constructing the new tallest building on the planet. The estimated cost of construction was $1 billion.

The developer did not want the new tower to be a hotel, a residential complex or an office centre, but a purely decorative element to serve for entertainment. The tower was designed by Spanish neo-futurist architect Santiago Calatrava and was to become another of Dubai’s architectural masterpieces. The tower is a reinforced concrete column supported by an array of steel cables. About 20 functional storeys at the top of the tower will house panoramic observation decks, lush gardens, hotel rooms, shops and restaurants. Stylistically, the structure was inspired by the Eiffel Tower, by the shape of a classical Muslim minaret and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The developer also planned to build a shopping and leisure facility nearby that would have been bigger than the famous Dubai Mall.
Construction on the tower began in 2016 and was expected to finish in 2022. Construction was put on hold due to the pandemic and only the foundation of the building is currently complete. The developer has not given a new date for completion.
If the tower does get built, Creek Harbour will compete with Dubai Downtown for the title of the most popular neighbourhood in the city. Experts believe that the completion of Dubai Creek Tower will boost real estate prices in the whole Dubai Creek Harbour area.
Creek Harbour Residential Complexes
Dubai Creek Harbour will house more than 20 residential complexes catering to buyers with different needs and financial resources. Some of them are ready while others are still under construction. Residences in Creek Harbour will include huge skyscrapers and cosy villas. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most appealing projects.
Creek Edge (Housearch)
When buying a home at any Creek Harbour complex, you should keep one very important thing in mind: the neighbourhood is still under construction which means you will have to put up with certain inconveniences. For this reason, you should think of your purchase as an investment. If you want to buy an apartment for yourself, you should be careful when choosing the location.

In a Nutshell
Once the Dubai Creek Harbour project is completed, Creek Harbour may become the most popular neighbourhood in Dubai. Even if this ambitious project is not finished, experts believe that Creek Harbour is a good area for investment because construction is ongoing and there is steady demand for the apartments in its residential complexes.
